Lightning Saix Designs Concepts by MidnightLiger0 Lightning Saix Designs Concepts by MidnightLiger0
Edit: Thanks to my sister :iconparanoia-blue: I actually do have a Command Wolf for repainting. Thank you so much! Still going to paint the Lightning Saix one of these designs, and the Command Wolf will be painted like Amaterasu. (I can't believe she read this XD )

Alright, so I am thinking about repainting my Hasbro Lightning Saix, but I am having trouble deciding on a design. Now, this is just one set of possibilities. I wanted to use white because I only used the color for details on my other repaints. That, and ever since I played the game Okami, I really wanted to do a command wolf with designs similar to Amaterasu's. But, I don't have a Command Wolf for repainting. And last reason, because it is supposed to belong to the Guylos Empire's royal family, so no crazy color schemes like green and purple.

I really like 2 and 3, but they would be a bit harder to pull off. And between the two, I don't know f I should leave the body grey, or paint the whole thing white. Now, the red designs might change a bit, but it will look similar. 1 is pretty simple, and thats why I'm not sure if I like it too much.

But, I would really like to know, what do you guys think? Which one should I do? Should I take some ideas from one paint scheme and mix it with another? Should I just scrap this idea and start over? I'm really bad at decision making, so help me out!

Done just to compare different paint schemes for my Lightning Saix. Will be moved to scraps or deleted after I make my decision. ( I didn't even draw the line art, I just traced over one of my pictures because I was lazy and didn't feel like spending time on something I would just delete >.> )

I like the second one, but maaaaybe without the red accents (more like the first)...I'd have to see it to know for sure. I definitely prefer the white with a little lighter grey to break it up, and the black bits look good.

I should see how it looks without the red accents (I am so glad I put everything on separate layers XD )
Yea, at first I thought it would look better without the grey and just being all white, but now that I'm looking at it closer and comparing them, I definitely like the grey better. I'll have to see on the actual model if I like the original grey, or if I should paint it a lighter color.
Thank you for sharing your opinion =)

Possible thought: Make the white and/or the grey pearl, if you can? I bet pearl would look pretty too :D. Though I don't know what paints you're using, I found a pearl white craft paint I'm going to test sometime to see how it covers on Zoids plastic.

Testing on the actual model helps, I agree, sometimes colors you think will look good/bad totally don't in the end.

Oh, that would look nice. Though, I don't know if the paints I use have that color. I use either Testors (enamel) or Tamiya Color (acrylic). I try to avoid spray paint, only because I have a harder time using them, and its harder to do detail work.
What is the name of the paint? I have some craft paint as well, I think it is called Decoart: dazzling metallics. But, its extremely thin and would need a couple coats of paint. That, and I don't know if I would be able to paint over it with my other paints. But, it is the right color. I'll have to test it out on some spare parts to see what my options are.

That's exactly the pearl I have! I found the Emperor's Gold to be REALLY hard to get a solid smooth coat out of, I'm crossing my fingers the pearl white won't be as evil. A clearcoat over it before doing details would probably help the hard to paint over thing, so long as you only paint other acrylics over it (iirc you don't want to do enamel over acrylic?).

Meanwhile, I need to pry apart my poor Tiger's face sometime to redo its nose...sigh.

When you said craft paint, I was like... maybe its the same stuff I have? XD
Hmm, I can't remember if I have ever had trouble with the gold or not. But, I haven't used it for much except on foam, which is a pain to cover anyways. I could do a clear coat, but I think that requires spray paint, my mortal enemy. What I thought about doing, though I have to test it out first, would be to use white model paint first, then try to cover it with the pearl white.
As for the enamel over acrylic, I'm just not sure how it would work, if it would stay on. Thats why I have to try acrylic over enamel. I don't use the two together often, so I have no idea if it would flake off, or something.
If all else fails, I thought I could try nail polish. But, thats like super last resort, and if I am really that desperate.

Oh? Why does it's nose need to be redone?

all three look pretty cool, but I would have to say #2 is my favorite! :D
Have you tried #1 with all the red accents?
